Individual nutrition counseling provides a unique approach that considers your experiences, needs, preferences and goals.
During nutrition counseling sessions, you can initially expect your sessions to focus on learning more about you, in order to support you best.
Together, we will discuss a plan that works for you to meet the goals that you have for yourself, adjusting it as needed as you try on new thing to figure out what is going to work for you. If you're not sure of your goals, we can also explore that together.
Follow-up sessions involve checking in on previous discussions and goals, troubleshooting and strategizing. If you need additional or structure, we can help you find tools to add in to help you work towards your goals between sessions.
We provide nutrition counseling virtually and in person in Pittsburgh’s Mt. Lebanon neighborhood.

With so much nutrition information out there, it can be confusing to know to eat.
We provide nutrition counseling that encourages healthful behaviors such as eating enough food, eating a wide variety of food, listening to your body's hunger/fullness cues, moving your body in a way that feels good, and respecting your body and it's genetic blueprint.
Together we can find an approach that is practical and accessible for you and your needs in this season of life.

We believe that everyone deserves to experience respectful healthcare services that are free from weight bias and body shame.
We do not provide weight loss counseling, but welcome conversations about your weight concerns.
Weight-inclusive care also works to combat inequities in healthcare related to weight stigma, by acknowledging the role of social determinants of health and the impact of anti-fat bias on one's health & well-being.

Recovering from chronic dieting or “yo-yo” dieting can be a challenging experience in a culture where dieting and restriction is often viewed as "the norm." Though it is a process to unlearn the rules of dieting, getting re-acquainted with your true preferences around food and movement, and exploring a more accepting relationship with your body is worth it. You don’t have to do it alone.

Item descriptionWhether you may struggle with disordered eating or an eating disorder you deserve support.
Disordered eating exists along a spectrum, including diagnosable eating disorders, as well as dieting and other behaviors that disrupt one's eating pattern and often involves experiences of distress.
We believe that disordered eating behaviors are adaptive and serve a purpose. For this reason, having a therapist on the team (and if indicated, a physician or psychiatrist) can allow for more holistic/complete care that ultimately support you in getting your needs met.

Body image involves the thoughts, attitudes, beliefs & perceptions of one's own body. Developing skills around self-care (i.e. intuitive eating & joyful movement), body appreciation, self-compassion, functionality and mindful attunement can support a more positive body image. Body image "work" also involves actively challenging arbitrary beauty and body ideals that can ultimately harm one's body image.
We believe that all bodies are inherently good and worthy. Our approach to body image work recognizes systemic issues that make it difficult and painful to live in a culture where certain bodies are marginalized.

We provide medical nutrition therapy from a non-diet perspective, which involves a holistic approach to health and wellness. Individual behaviors, (such as food choices) are just one factor to be considered when discussing health- we must also consider the role of genetics, stress, sleep, environment, access to healthcare & social circumstances when we discuss health & the development/management of different health conditions.
Please note: Some conditions that require medical nutrition therapy may not be within our skillset. If this is the case, a referral will be provided for someone more specialized in treating your condition, with your best interest in mind.
